| How is the PTO funded ? The annual AppleFest and the Spring Gala provide the PTO with its primary funding for the year. AppleFest is a Parish-wide, 3-day festival held each September. AppleFest funds are shared equally by the Parish, the School and Athletics. All school families are encouraged to volunteer and attend this community-building event. St. Lawrence School and Athletics also sponsor the annual “Spring Gala” Dinner Dance. The Spring Gala includes a delicious sit-down dinner, dancing to a live band, a silent auction, raffle baskets, and more. Over 600 people attend the annual Gala, which is a major fundraiser for Athletics and the School. There are many different ways for each family to meet its obligatory commitment for the Gala. For more information, please click the Spring Gala icon on the St. Lawrence School home page. The School also holds an annual active fall fundraiser, such as this year’s Sally Foster / Entertainment Book sale. Each family is strongly encouraged to participate in the sale. Keeping that in mind, we consciously keep the family expectations low, ensuring that participation is easy and not bothersome. For example, SLS’s hope is that each family sells 3 Entertainment Books at a minimum. The more that are sold, the more funding we receive. With that, each child increases his/her chance at earning TONS of great gifts, such as IPOD Nanos, Bikes, & even trips to the Money Box!!! Passive fundraisers earn additional money earmarked for recreational equipment and technology. These passive fundraisers include Market Day, Kroger Care Cards, Lakeside Mall, VG’s, Campbell's Soup Labels, Gordon's Foods, Box Tops for Education, Meijer’s, Target Visa, and a variety of Family Restaurant Nights. |
